Fall favorites!

Fall favorites!

With Halloween this week and Thanksgiving around the corner it is no doubt that fall is in full swing! I am loving the cooler weather and PUMPKIN everything! My new favorite is the pumpkin butter at Trader Joe's! I finally went for the first time last night and loved it! I put the pumpkin butter on toast yesterday and on a GF waffle this morning, yum!

I am loving the cooler weather which has given me an opportunity to wear all the new sweaters we have in the store! I wore the Navy and Beige Sweater around the store and to dinner last week and couldn't get over how comfy yet flattering it is.

Per usual I have been pretty much living in the Burnt Orange Skinny Jeans. They are the perfect color for fall! I love how easy it is to add a statement necklace, white blouse and booties to them. Tada, ready to go! And now that the Army Jacket with Woven Back has arrived I am ready to pair them with that and hit up a pumpkin patch to find the perfect orange nugget to carve.

I am thinking the Burnt Orange Top with Round Neck is a great option for the day game against KU this Saturday because I can easily add a sweater when it starts cooling down, but I can't wait to wear the Shift Dress to Thanksgiving! So many options!

What are your fall clothing favorites?

Top 5 Things to Do Texas-OU Weekend

Time is flying by and it is already the first Friday of the month. Which means, the fabulous Tori Klem is guest blogging! Read her top 5 tips for TX vs OU weekend below!

First, we’re undefeated in the Big 12 (gotta believe in the little things)!

Second, next weekend is Texas-OU (and/or ACL round #2).  The Longhorn vs. Sooner matchup is one of every Longhorn’s favorite games of the season.  It combines excellent fried food, fun fair games and football all in one weekend.  Plus, win or lose, we all get to drive back from the Red River Rivalry gloating in the fact that we live in Austin, Texas… not Norman, Oklahoma.

While this list isn’t comprehensive, I wanted to include some of my five favorite things to do during the Red River Rivalry weekend – whether you’re a collegiate living the dream or alum trying to relive the dream, hope you get to enjoy or have enjoyed all five:

5. Stop for a kolache at Little Czech Stop in West.  Stop for a fruit-cream cheese kolache concoction.  Yes, it’s worth the wait.   You have to love this little Czech Stop; they supplied kolaches and food to the first responders and volunteers helping out West residents after the fertilizer plant explosion in April.

4. Pre-game with fellow Longhorns at the Red River Party or the Burnt Orange Bash.  I haven’t been to the Burnt Orange Bash personally but it looks like a great time for Texas Exes.  On the other hand, the Red River Party is like a beautiful undergrad Thursday night when all of your friends ended up arriving at Maggie Maes at the same time.

3. Make time for the Texas State Fair.  Tessie wrote a comprehensive post for tips on how to make the best of your time at the fair, so check that out and DEFINITELY get your tickets beforehand if you can!  Some people naysay the idea of hitting up the fair when it’s going to be an already  long day, but do not listen! The fair is so Texan and so unique.  It’s just a few weekends every year and is the ultimate pre-party for a Longhorn game.

2. Bring a painted cooler (full of goodies!).  If you’re staying at a hotel, make sure to BYOB in a festively painted cooler.  When you’ve braved the 18 hours of traffic to get to Dallas from Austin this weekend, the last thing you want to do is hit up a gas station for ice and beverages.  Bring your own, full of festive drinks and Gatorades/waters and you won’t waste any time once you’re in Dallas.

1. Dine at Dick’s Last Resort.  This is totally touristy and really cliché, but Dick’s is one of those hilariously embarrassing restaurants that you need to try just once.  The waiters write offensive, dirty, rude and/or demeaning phrases on a hat that you then wear throughout dinner; phrases that haunt you for years, making you question yourself.

Whatever you do, make sure you’re wearing stylish Longhorn Fashions throughout the whole weekend! (Currently drooling over the white mini studded skirt).

What else is a must-do for Texas-OU?

TX vs OU Outfit for State Fair of Texas

TX vs OU Outfit

The State Fair of Texas has started and soon buses full of spirited students will be rolling in to cheer on the Longhorns!

Here are some tips for making the most out of your TX vs OU State Fair experience:

  • Order food and drink tickets ahead of time! Those lines get long the day of and with a kickoff at 11am you don't want to waste your precious pre-game corn dog eating time standing in line.
  • Speaking of corn dogs, Fletcher's is the only way to go! Fletcher's is a State Fair of Texas tradition since 1942. The original hand dipped corny dog and the best!
  • Try at least 2-4 food items! This isn't a time to watch the waistline. Chances are you won't be back for another year so you have plenty of time to sneak in some greens post fair. I recommend three classics on top of the Fletcher's Corn Dog: Fried Twinkies from Katie's Cafe, Tornado Twisters and Fried Pickles! I'm also eager to try some of the new fried food from this year, especially the Fried Nutella.
  • The cheapest beer is in the food court. My husband is probably not going to be happy with me for sharing this secret but it's true, the beer is 2 tickets less in there!
  • Hydrate. Seriously y'all. Going out on Friday night and waking up early for the game means that one to two beers can get ya feeling weird and not a fun weird. Make sure to drink lots of water (especially during the game) and maybe even rotate a Gatorade in the mix.
  • Take a break from the heat in the car show. The AC is ice cold in here and there are plenty of fancy new models to keep you entertained while you take a breather.
