Blues Curing Dresses!

Between Austin City Limits and Texas/OU weekend ending, we've got the blues. Luckily, we've got the perfect blue dresses to lift our moods; hey, a little retail therapy never hurt, right?

Our first blues-curing dress is this adorable blue and white floral print piece! This dress has an amazing, flattering fit with its high waist and V neckline! To further accentuate the waist of this dress, and to add a little color, we threw on our twisted leather belt. For jewelry, we added our gold-trimmed, natural stone necklace! We think this dress looks darling with ankle booties or wedges!

Our next dress is this beautiful teal shift! The color is so bright and up lifting that it is sure to cure your blues! The scallop hem and back detailing adds a little playfulness to the dress while keeping it polished! This is a great piece to stretch your closet as it can be worn with sandals or wedges in the warmer weather, or paired with boots and a cardigan on cooler days!

This leaf print dress is one of our favorite dresses, it's fun and flirty plus it's super comfortable! We can't get enough of the underarm details and the open back, not to mention that the dress is extremely soft! This dress is another great transition piece: it looks adorable with a jean jacket and boots or by itself with sandals. To accessorize we love pairing this dress with our multiple stone necklace or our classic golden Texas necklace.

If your blues needs a little dressing up, our next dress is the perfect go-to! This dress is polished while still being fun and playful making it perfect for dinner out with family or your next semi-formal! This dress is a great day-to-night dress: pair it with a blazer and flats for work, then ditch the blazer and throw on some heels to make this nighttime ready!

Our final blues-curing dress is this adorable boho-chic tiered dress. This dress is one of our go-to items for running errands or meeting up with our friends for lunch as it's so easy to throw on and go! The open back makes this dress fun and playful, without being too revealing and the tiers give the dress movement! We paired it with our dainty golden Texas necklace to show a little hometown pride and keep the outfit simple! Pair this dress with sandals or wedges and you're ready to go!

Unfortunately, we can't turn back time to relive Austin City Limits and Texas/OU weekend, but we hope that these dresses make your monday a little better!

TX vs OU Tips

The most intense football weekend of the year is upon us! Yes, I realize the Super Bowl is in February. I'm obviously talking about the Red River Rivalry- Texas vs. Oklahoma!

My name is Molly and you can normally find me blogging about decor and design at Awfully Big Adventure. Today, I'm guest posting at Longhorn Fashions to talk about what to do and what to wear if you are lucky enough to find yourself in Dallas for the upcoming game and all of the festivities that go along with it. This is actually the first year in...ever that I'm not attending, so I'm living vicariously through this blog post. :) You can bet I'll be cheering on the Horns here in Austin while everyone else treks up north!

First things first: Friday night. If you want to do Dallas right, get yourself to the nearest Mi Cocina to have a bite of some delicious Tex-Mex and a margarita or three, if you're into that. If you don't have plans to attend a pre-organized event, don't fret- Dallas has several areas near downtown chock-full of bars that are guaranteed to be a blast on Friday night. I'd recommend heading to Uptown, Knox Henderson, or Lower Greenville. Of course before you head out the door, you have to answer the dreaded question

: What Will I Wear? Grinch

Luckily, Longhorn Fashions has the perfect answer. I LOVE this fringe off-the-shoulder top, and it would look great with skinny jeans, wedges, and some big earrings. It's crucial to wear burnt orange all weekend long, even on Friday, and this top has you covered. Except your shoulders. :)

Friday night has come and gone- hope you have plenty of coffee or energy drinks, cause odds are you stayed out late and need to get up early to get ready for the game. If you need immediate sustenance, pick up a taco from Velvet Taco. So much yum. When you're getting ready, I'd recommend throwing on an easy/breezy burnt orange dress with some cowboy boots for maximum comfort and style. This dress is a great gameday option from Longhorn Fashions that definitely fits the easy/stylish bill.

  Rust Open Shoulder Dress

If you're heading to the fair, fried foods is a given. You can find a good guide to this year's best and worst fried foods here. Even if you don't have tickets to the game, the fair is a great place to watch! If you'd rather not deal with getting yourself to the fair, you'll be able to catch the game at almost any bar in Dallas. Last year my friends and I had a great time watching the game at J.Black's. Be prepared to get to the bar early if you want a good seat! You were out late Friday, you got up early Saturday morning, you got through the game and HOPEFULLY the Horns pulled out a win. Now it's time to squeeze in a nap before freshening up and heading out for one last hurrah with all your friends. I love this top from Southern Pearl Couture paired with jeans or shorts. The low back is super cute and the tie-dye is classic Austin.

  Fringe Off-the-Shoulder Burnt Orange Top

I'm super jealous of everyone attending! Fingers crossed for a Texas win. Come early, be loud, stay late, wear Longhorn Fashions- I think that's how it goes! :)

ACL Style

If you're like us, you've been super excited for Austin City Limits, ACL, for months but still have no idea what to wear. We're torn between the ever popular hippie chic vibe, the too cool for school trend setter look, and the fashionable yet laid-back look. Regardless of which style you opt for, we have the perfect outfit!

Our first look is this drop waist, crocheted dress paired with a natural gem necklace! The 20's style drop waist is feminine while the light, gauzy fabric and detailed back are updated and casual. This combination would look great with booties and a jean jacket or on its own with sandals or cowboy boots! However you wear it, you're sure to look polished and free spirited!

Our confetti inspired silk top paired with our white lace shorts are a great way to feel comfortable and chic all festival long! The light silky fabric of the top will allow you to stay cool all day long, while the white lace shorts look polished and dainty. This outfit looks adorable with our tiny golden Texas necklace!

This tank top is adorable when paired with these printed silky shorts! The bottom hem detailing of this top makes it the ultimate ACL shirt that can transition into your day-to-day wardrobe once the festival is over! These printed shorts add a little interesting element and color to the outfit making it one of our favorites!

This tribal print top screams ACL in our book! It's fun and flirty while keeping along the music festival vibe! The crochet at the bottom adds a great texture to the shirt and the tie-back top keeps our attention! Again, we love this top with our white crochet shorts and dainty Texas necklace!

In case you couldn't tell, we can't stop wearing these versatile white shorts! They tone down any patterned top while adding texture and crispness to the outfit! Another great top to pair this outfit with is our silk kaleidoscope tank! This combination is interesting and detailed while feeling cool and light!

This fringe makes us want to get up and dance! Do double duty with your ACL wardrobe and wear this perfect fringe dress to both the Longhorn football game and the festival! Adding cowboy boots and an "Austin" necklace make this fun dress a great fuse of country and boho! We added a belt to this dress to give it a little more dimension, but it looks great either way!

What says "music festival" better than tie-dye? This crochet detailed dress adds an adult spin to a childhood favorite, plus it's super hippie-chic! Pair this dress with simple sandals or booties and you're ready to go!

Throw this lace bralette and crochet top on with a pair of jeans or denim shorts and you're ACL ready! This combination of soft lace with chunky yet open sweater is a great way to show a little skin without being too revealing! Plus, it's UT colors, so it can be worn on game day as well!

We can't wait to dress up for Austin City Limits in these perfect outfits! Be sure to tag Longhorn Fashions in your ACL gear Instagram pics!

Little Black Dress Obsessed

There's nothing more versatile than a black dress; there's a reason why it's repeatedly listed as a closet must-have in basically any magazine ever written. Black dresses can range from ball gowns to cotton shifts with every level of fanciness in between. Today, we're going to talk about some of our favorites in store and how you can style them!

Let's start with casual, shall we?
Our first coveted black dress is our V-front maxi. We love the detailing in the front of this dress; it makes it a little more interesting than your average scoop neck dress! To make this dress a little more casual, we threw on our favorite denim jacket, crystal necklace, and sandals.  If you want this maxi to be a little more formal or simple, you can wear it with a thin gold or colored belt, dainty jewelry, like our dainty Texas necklace, and heels!

Our next favorite LBD is this darling open back dress! The waistline is reminiscent of a 50's housewife, but the openness in the back modernizes it! The higher waistline is universally flattering and feminine, making it one of our most loved dresses! We love how it looks with our golden beaded necklace, but it's so versatile that you can make it your own with any color jewelry, high heels, booties, or flats!

We may have saved the best for last with this flapper inspired beaded shift! The beading is impeccably intricate and it is impossible to walk by this dress without giving it a second look! The waistline beading resembles a belt, which gives this shift a drop-waist shape a la 1920's! This dress is perfect for a formal event, and can serve double duty as the most chic and least costume-y halloween ensemble around!

These versatile Little Black Dresses are sure to be on frequent rotation in our wardrobes so stop by the store or shop online to see which is your favorite!

Transitioning into Fall!

We don't know about you, but this cold front in Austin is getting us in the fall mood! While we'd love to buy a new wardrobe for every season, we're going to talk about transitioning summer pieces into the cooler months for now.

We love jean jackets. Let's just get that out there. They add an edgy yet earthy vibe to outfits without being too bulky. Here, we threw our Dip Dyed Denim Jacket over a light white top, orange skater skirt and jewel necklace. By throwing on a lightweight jean jacket with a skirt and airy top, your summer outfit becomes fall focused without being too warm or bulky.

We're not ready to say goodbye to our summer dresses. The floral detailing on this hippie-chic dress reminds us of warmer times, while the heavy knit of this sweater has us feeling warm and cozy! By pairing these similar length pieces, both of which are sleeveless, this dress transitions into fall without being too bulky.

Maxi dresses are a staple in our summer wardrobe. Unfortunately, they can consume your frame if you pair them with a sweater or bulky jacket. By putting a jean shirt over your maxi dress, as a pseudo jacket, your can hold on to wearing your maxi dress a little longer and stretch your wardrobe.

During the summer months, we'd pair a maxi skirt with a light tank top to balance out the proportions and keep us cool. As the weather is changing, we're switching out our tank tops for denim shirts to add a little weight to the outfit to keep you warm!

This summery skirt was a staple in our wardrobe the past couple months. We're now pairing it with a light sweater to make it feel a little more autumn appropriate! The natural gem necklace adds a touch of fall to the outfit, reminding us of the changing leaves.

This cold front in Austin has us so excited for the cooler weather.  What pieces are sure to stay in your closet's rotation as the weather cools down? Let us know!
