The State Fair of Texas has started and soon buses full of spirited students will be rolling in to cheer on the Longhorns!
Here are some tips for making the most out of your TX vs OU State Fair experience:
- Order food and drink tickets ahead of time! Those lines get long the day of and with a kickoff at 11am you don't want to waste your precious pre-game corn dog eating time standing in line.
- Speaking of corn dogs, Fletcher's is the only way to go! Fletcher's is a State Fair of Texas tradition since 1942. The original hand dipped corny dog and the best!
- Try at least 2-4 food items! This isn't a time to watch the waistline. Chances are you won't be back for another year so you have plenty of time to sneak in some greens post fair. I recommend three classics on top of the Fletcher's Corn Dog: Fried Twinkies from Katie's Cafe, Tornado Twisters and Fried Pickles! I'm also eager to try some of the new fried food from this year, especially the Fried Nutella.
- The cheapest beer is in the food court. My husband is probably not going to be happy with me for sharing this secret but it's true, the beer is 2 tickets less in there!
- Hydrate. Seriously y'all. Going out on Friday night and waking up early for the game means that one to two beers can get ya feeling weird and not a fun weird. Make sure to drink lots of water (especially during the game) and maybe even rotate a Gatorade in the mix.
- Take a break from the heat in the car show. The AC is ice cold in here and there are plenty of fancy new models to keep you entertained while you take a breather.
