Holiday Party Attire

Guest Post By: Layne Victoria Lynch

Christmas and New Year's Eve are right around the corner, and you know what that means: holiday parties! During those festive, joyful nights surrounded by mistletoe, glitter, and cocktails with coworkers and close friends, you might need a few fashion pieces to help you look your holiday best. Parties are the perfect occasion to put on those wardrobe pieces that are normally too festive to sport on a typical Friday night. Yup, I'm talking glitter heels, colorful tights, chunky statement necklaces, and jewel headbands; let your imagination run wild!

For those of you who are stumped on what to wear for your upcoming holiday gatherings, I've put together a list of twelve items that would work well at most any festive event. What's more, each of these items are under $60, so you won't burn a hole in your pocket trying to look beautiful and stylish.

Holiday Parties!

I love Kendra Scott's jewelry. Her collections are colorful, well-made, and versatile. These emerald studs would make any woman around you pea green with envy!

The 1920s is one of my favorite fashion decades of all time. I look at this headband and almost immediately picture Daisy from the Great Gatsby. It's a beautiful headband you can sport during the day and night. Headband: $52.40

Black and gold are two of my favorite color pairings. This Black and gold clutch is beautiful and would work at most any social gathering. It's also a great staple piece to have in the back of your closet as well.

There is only one time of the year I wear red lipstick, and that's during the winter holidays. Not every woman feels comfortable rocking lips as red as the rose, but hey, it's Christmas; be fearless. MAC makes a beautiful shade called MAC Red.

With your red lips, you're going to need some red nails, right? Well, you can never go wrong with OPI. The nail polish line features an endless assortment of rogue and scarlet polishes, but my favorite has to be The Thrill of Brazil.

In addition to black and gold, another one of my favorite color pairings has to be black and blue. Like Longhorn Fashions, Shopruche.com is a great store that features great wardrobe investments. I think this black and blue dress would be a perfect, flirty dress to wear at most any holiday gathering. Black and Blue dress: $46.99

I see women wearing greens and reds all the time at holiday parties, but I never see anyone sporting white, which is an absolute shame! Longhorn Fashion's Winter White Dress is a beautiful, classic frock that will stand out amongst a sea of greens and reds. I also love how ethereal and romantic it is. Winter White Dress: $45

If you seek out clothes with subtle, classic details, then this blouse needs to be in your closet. It's such a beautiful top, and the back is so unique. This Bow Back Blouse would pair well with colorful pants or a pair of black tights and boots.

If you're wearing a sequin dress or stylish top, you don't want to sport a necklace that draws too much attention away from your outfit. The Texas Necklace from Longhorn Fashions is a great necklace to wear to holiday parties. People will take notice of the beautiful, classic gold necklace, and it won't pull too much attention away from your rockin' attire. Texas Necklace: $38

Let's face it: it's not a party unless someone is wearing a little black dress! The Little Black Dress from Longhorn Fashions finds a balance between classic and sexy. Top if off with a colorful blazer, leather jacket, or if you're feeling bold, let the dress speak for itself.

I'm weary of glitter heels, simply because they have a tendency of looking tacky and cheap. That said, I love these oxford glitter heels from Francesca's Collections. They're something you can wear on a regular basis, but people will definitely take notice of them at parties. Oxford Glitter heels.
